Yesterday I got the Facebook notification that John’s newest video was up. I didn’t have time to watch it, but today I sure did. Then I promptly listened to the album.

Happy to say, you finally don’t give a fuck. Likely been there for a while, I imagine. Twenty years of service to the music industry should earn you the right to be free to do whatever the hell you want. Especially when following your gut was the reason why you earned your Grammys.
Free to keep the music sparse, and blanketed with sounds you can really feel, and really concentrate on — Mayer’s “Sob Rock” is yacht rock disguised in layers and layers of social criticism, it’s a big fuck you the vacant Internet troll, while pointing out the issues of the mob mentality, spattered with in-your-face sarcasm, and then John just goes all in and reveals the world’s heart in wide aperture, in “Why You No Love Me?” when the chorus hits, it’s like he was channeling South Park, and before you know it, the chorus hits y…
