I learned of Mahakali after a short stay at a woman’s house in Coyoacan, just before the onset of the pandemic.
She had photos of the Hindu Goddess all around the apartment, which was small.
I felt uneasy about it—since I was there alone. It was the necklace of dude’s heads that alarmed me at first. And then I realized she’s a redeemer—a slayer of demons, the transformed version of Parvati—vanquisher of evil.
After that I developed quite an affinity to her.
She’s made it into my writing a number of times. Purifies the situation. Brings balance to pranic energy.
This is my first illustration of her.
